Senator PEARCE - The answers are -

1.   No. An invitation was extended to them to take part in the march of Australian Imperial Force troops through Sydney, but the French Consul could not see his way to accept, owing to the men being without arms or equipment. Further, they were entertained by the State Government.

3.   No. That the Government of Noumea appreciates the courtesies extended to the reservists while in Australia is evidenced by the receipt of. the following cablegram from the Governor of Noumea: - " Greatly appreciate the courtesies shown to French troops during their visit to Sydney, Perth, and Fremantle. Allow mo to convey the warmest thanks of the people of New Caledonia and its dependencies and of my countrymen in the New Hebrides."
