Senator GRANT asked the Minister of

Defence, upon notice -

1.   What is the total amount expended on the Small Arms Factory at Lithgow (a) buildings; (b) equipment?

2.   How many rides have been manufactured to date?

3.   How many men are now employed there?

4.   What is the amount of the fortnightly pay-sheet?

5.   Is the factory working full time?

6.   Are more than one shift per day being worked; and, if so, how many?

7.   How many rifles per week are being manufactured at the present time?

8.   Is it proposed to increase the output capacity of the factory; and, if so, when, and to what extent?
