Senator GARDINER (NEW SOUTH WALES) (Vice-President of the Executive Council) - The following further answer to the honorable senator's question has' been supplied: -

1.   The usual action to ascertain particulars as to the extent of the work necessary to give the required .services, and the .cost of such.

2.   The engineering details, estimates of cost of construction, and of revenue likely to be derived from the lines, have just been furnished to this office, and are being dealt with.

3.   There is no objection to the honorable senator seeing the papers in question when a decision has been given on them.


Senator READY - Is the Minister re-, presenting the Postmaster-General in a position to give a reply to a question T asked recently with reference to communication by telephone between the towns of Caveside and Chudleigh, in Tasmania?


Senator GARDINER - -The Deputy Postmaster-General, Hobart, reports that action will be taken at once in connexion with the erection of the CavesideChudleigh telephone line, and its completion is expected about the third week in March, 1915.
