Senator BAKHAP (Tasmania) . - I wish, in no patronizing way, but in all sincerity, to tender my sympathy to the Minister of Defence.


Senator Pearce - It is not required. I do not thank the honorable senator for it.


Senator BAKHAP - That may be so. Nevertheless, in justice to myself, I tender the Minister my sympathy, and thus express as much as I would if I were to write a compendium embodying the political philosophy which I have always professed. I say that what has taken place here this afternoon must be an object lesson to the whole of the people of the Commonwealth .
