Senator RUSSELL (VICTORIA) - The answers are -

1.   About 1,000,000.

2.   Construction of the first kiln is in active progress, and the second one is proposed to be commenced shortly. - 3. Three.

4.   The estimated cost of the three kilns, with necessary brick machines, crushers, and plant, is £35,000.

5.   Five million bricks.

6.   The actual cost of timber is about £21,000. It's value at the present date is estimated at an increase of 60 per cent.

7.   Yes, if the Departmental Board's plan, us approved by a previous Minister for Rone Affairs, is proceeded with. See also my reply to question asked by the honorable senator on 26th ultimo, Hansard, page 1060.
