Senator LONG (TASMANIA) asked the Minister of

Defence, upon notice -

1.   Is it a fact that, while in camp, officers draw field allowance on the following scale : - Lieutenants, 3s. 6d. per diem; majors and adjutants, 5s. per diem; lieut.-colonels, 7s. 6d. per diem ; warrant officers,1s. per diem ?

2.   Is it also a fact that non-commissioned officers of the Instructional Staff receive no field allowance?

3.   Why is there such discrimination made between officers and warrant officers?

4.   Why are the non-commissioned officers of the Instructional Staff denied field allowance?
