Senator GRANT (NEW SOUTH WALES) asked, the Minister representing the Minister of Home Affairs, upon notice] -

1.   Have any steps been taken by the Commonwealth Government to secure possession of the Queanbeyan River watershed, with a view to that area being added to the Federal Territory?

2.   If so, what is the present stage of the negotiations?

3.   Why has the plan of the proposed Capital City not been adopted?

4.   Who is responsible for the delay?

5.   What steps, if any, are being taken to expedite the adoption of the plan?

6.   Is it intended to construct a line of railway from Yass to the Federal Capital?

7.   If so, on what date is the actual work of construction to be commenced?
