Senator MAUGHAN (QUEENSLAND) - I ask to be allowed by the Senate to make a personal -explanation.

Leave granted

Senator MAUGHAN - When I left the chamber yesterday afternoon I was not aware that votes on adjourned motions would be taken yesterday, thinking that they would probably be taken today or on the next day of sitting. Consequently I was away last night when the "vote was taken on the motion of Senator Henderson. Had I been present I should certainly have given the motion my Support, considering that I have supported the proposition for the last twenty-three years. I might also have shown good reason why, after the establishment of Home Rule, a Labour Government would dominate affairs in Ireland.
