Senator MILLEN (New South Wales) (Minister of Defence) . - I desire leave to make a statement to the Senate.

Senator MILLEN - I have to inform the Senate that the Prime Minister has advised, and His Excellency the GovernorGeneral has decided to grant, a simultaneous dissolution of both Houses as soon' as the necessary provision has been made for carrying on the Public Service in all its branches.

Honorable Senators.- Hear, hear !


Senator Oakes - Whistle up I


Senator Pearce - You started the whistling, anyhow.


Senator MILLEN - The Government do not propose to attempt any further business, except to obtain Supply. When this has been done, the Parliament will be prorogued, and we shall proceed with the elections. In consequence of that I move -

That the Senate do now adjourn.
