Senator MILLEN - The answers are -

1.   The papers will be made available for the honorable member's perusal.

2.   The officer in question is required, under his agreement, to give an equivalent to four months of his time to the Department each year. Although no exact record has been kept, it is considered that he has fully complied with this requirement.

3.   The following, is a list of duties carried out by the Director of Physical Training since his appointment: -

1.   Acted as expert adviser in all matters pertaining to physical training instruction.

2.   Assisted in organizing the scheme of physical training instruction.

3.   Advised regarding the syllabus of examination for admission to the Physical Training Instructional Staff.

4.   Advised in the selection of officers for the Physical Training Instructional Staff.

5.   Advised regarding the standard of technical efficiency in physical training to be attained by the Physical Training Instructional Stall'.

6.   Supervised special courses of instruction inphysical training for Physical Training Instructional Staff. 7: Advised as to methods of conducting schools of instruction for school teachers in junior cadet training.

8.   Devised, reported on, and supervised schemes for the physical training of Senior Cadets and Citizen Forces.

9.   Reported on the physical training carried out in any branch of the Military Forces, when required.

10.   Reported on plans and specifications of fittings for gymnasia. Inspected, or arranged for inspection of gymnastic material.
