1.   £10,400.

2.   £5,907.

3.   The amount expended by way of maintenance and upkeep of. the Stuart from the date of her departure from Sydney for service in the Territory, viz., 28th .March, 1913, until December, 1913, since when she has done no service in the Territory, was £5,435. From 10th December to date an amount of about £3,500 has been expended.

4.   Carriage of mails, passengers, stores, Stc, between ilarwill and the Victoria, Roper, and Macarthur rivers, and thu amount earned by her in respect of freight, fares, &c, during the period April to November, 1913, was £2,381. This is without making an allowance for crediting the vessel with the proportion of the postal subsidy previously paid by the Department to Messrs. Jolly and Company for the services of their vessel. The subsidy in question was at the rate of £3S5 per trip, four of which were made annually. In December last advantage was taken by the Government of the presence of the Stuart in northern waters to have a naval survey made of certain portions of the Papuan coast. This opportunity saved the Government a very large sum, which would have been necessary to secure an equally suitable vessel elsewhere.

5.   The net loss of capital is £9,757.
