Senator NEEDHAM (Western Australia) . - I desire to ask the Minister of Defence a question in regard to the industrial trouble which now exists at the western end of the transcontinental railway. A disputeexists between the Government and the men who were in its employ, and it has existed for some weeks. I would like to know if there is any possibility of the Government conferring with representatives of the men with a view to bringing about a settlement of the trouble. The longer it lasts, the longer will the construction of the line be delayed. I am aware that overtures have been made by both sides, and I would suggestthe desirableness of bringing about a meeting between the representatives of the men and of the Government, with a view to terminating the difficulty.
