Senator McGREGOR (South Australia) (Vice-President of the Executive Council) . - I have further considered this matter, and think that it would .be. better to leave the definition clause as it stands. It might otherwise be imagined by people outside, who read the statements which have been made by some honorable senators this afternoon, that the Minister of External Affairs was deprived of the control of the Northern Territory on account of the suspicions to which expression has been given. That is a fair assumption. When we come to consider that a definition of the Territory is necessary, I think, in view of what has already been said, that it would be far better to take the clause as it is. I hope that Senator Millen will see the justice of that position.
