Senator ST LEDGER (Queensland) - - I quite realize that there is a good deal to be said on both sides of this question, and I was glad to hear the announcement of the Minister that it is not intended to administer the Bill in such a way as to inflict hardship. In the circumstances, I shall not move an amendment which I had intended to submit, and which had for its object the exemption of ships registered or in course of construction before, or at the time of the passing of this Act, of less than 500 tons gross register, except as regards sleeping and sanitary accommodation.
