Senator FINDLEY (VICTORIA) (Ministerwithout portfolio) - This question is similar to one which was asked yesterday by the honorable senator.

Senator Vardon - I want a straightforward answer.

Senator FINDLEY - I am of opinion that it was a thoroughly straightforward answer which I gave yesterday.

Senator Vardon - It was most evasive.

Senator FINDLEY -The honorable senator must know that if the negotiations are carried on to the satisfaction of both the Commonwealth and the people of the State no harm will be done. In any case it is not intended to appropriate the land. It is intended to exchange it with the consent of the State if anything is done in the matter.

Senator Vardon - Forty acres for five.
