Mr Morris asked the Minister for Post and Telecommunications, upon notice:

(   1 ) What is the citizens band radio service.

(2)   When was the service inaugurated, and by whom was it authorised.

(3)   What band of frequencies is used by the service.

Mr Eric Robinson (MCPHERSON, QUEENSLAND) - The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(1)   to (3) At the present time there is no Citizens Band Radio Service authorised in Australia. However, a discussion paper has recently been prepared by my Department, setting out the advantages and disadvantages of introducing such a service in Australia. This paper has been made available for public discussion. A decision in the matter will be taken in the light of the response to the paper.
