Mr SPEAKER -The honourable member for Chifley rang me this morning and informed me that it was hot- which indeed it was. He asked me whether in the circumstances a tie would be necessary in the chamber. I indicated to the honourable member for Chifley that I thought that every person would make his own judgment as to whether he was properly presentable to his peers in the House and that it was a matter for his judgment. He indicated to me in a most cooperative fashion that he would like me actually to see his dress. He came for inspection. After due inspection I thought that the honourable member for Chifley looked quite presentable and I agreed that he could enter the chamber dressed in that manner.
