Mr Uren asked the Minister for Environment, Housing and Community Development, upon notice:

(   1 ) What sum was spent by the previous Government on projects in the South West Sector, with the exception of the Holsworthy project, under the Department of Urban and Regional Development in the years 1972-73, 1973-74 and 1974- 75.

(2)   What sum was allocated in the Budget of 1975-76 for the South West Sector/Macarthur Growth Centre.

(3)   How much of the allocation in pan (2) was spent in 1975- 76.

(4)   Was a lesser amount spent as a result of his Department 's or the Government 's actions.

(5)   Were any contracts cancelled as a result of these actions.

Mr Newman (BASS, TASMANIA) (Minister for Environment, Housing and Community Development) -The answer to the honourable member 's question is as follows:

(1)   The only funds expended that can be identified with specific projects related to the Growth Centre Program, other funds being provided to NSW in bloc, are as follows:

1972-73 1973-74 1974-75

Nil Nil $6.682m

(2)   $14.918m

(3)   $15.7 18m- Additional funds were made available by transfer of unexpended funds from within the Program.

(4)   No.

(5)   This pan of the question lapses as Pan (4) is a negative answer.
