Mr Lloyd asked the Minister for Health, upon notice:

(1)   Is it a fact that imported goats' milk from New Zealand and the United States of America is available as a pharmaceutical benefit.

(2)   If so, is the cost ofthe imported milk more expensive than the Australian product, and is the Government subsidising the imported product against the local product.

Mr Hunt -The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(1)   Yes.

(2)   The list prices of goats' milk preparations available as pharmaceutical benefits are as follows:


My Department does not attempt to subsidise the imported product against the local product under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.
