Mr McLEAN (PERTH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA) - I address my question to the Prime Minister. Is the right honourable gentleman aware that the Western Australian Industrial Commission is to pass on the full consumer price index rises for the next 3 quarters to all workers under its State awards? Is not wages policy an important part of any national economic management program? What can this Government do to rectify the ridiculous situation where a major weapon of national economic policy is determined by 6 State wage-fixing bodies moving in their own separate ways, the Commonwealth Conciliation and Arbitration Commission possibly moving in another direction, and government policy possibly moving in none of these directions? Is this not further justification for the introduction of a national incomes policy?
