Mr MALCOLM FRASER -As I understand the position, the States traditionally have communicated with the Palace through the British Government;, that has been their decision and that hitherto has been their wish. It would be the view of this Government that the appropriate means of communication with the Palace is the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia. If the State governments wish to seek changes in their arrangements which would enable them to converse with the Palace through the Commonwealth Government I shall be only too delighted to assist those State governments.
