Mr CALDER (Northern Territory) - I feel that I should say something about the disgraceful remarks made by the honourable member for Wills (Mr Bryant). He has completely misrepresented the work that has been done by the Legislative Assembly on which at one timenot now, mind you- there were Labor members. Those Labor members were the ones who wanted to throw open the Aboriginal land to everyone.

Mr Bryant

Mr CALDER - Yes, they did. They fought 3 elections on that proposal and they were defeated every time. Finally, they were utterly defeated and as a result there are now no Labor members on the Legislative Assembly. That is why the Labor Party is now so crooked on the Legislative Assembly. It is just a case of sour grapes. The members of the Legislative Assembly have been working on Aboriginal land legislation for longer than the honourable member has, and they know far more about it than do many other people in this chamber who are interested in this subject.
