Mr Morris asked the Minister for Transport, upon notice:

(1)   What action has he taken to implement the recommendation of the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Road Safety that the Bureau of Road Safety investigate the appropriate labelling of retreaded tyres (including tread depth indicators) and maximum recommended vehicle speeds when fitted with retreaded tyres.

(2)   What have been the results of the action taken.


Mr Nixon -The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(1)   Requirements for labelling of retreaded tyres and speed limitations for their use on passenger cars are being investigated by the Advisory Committee on Vehicle Performance.
