Mr SPEAKER -I have received letters from both the honourable member for Fremantle (Mr Beazley) and the honourable member for Swan (Mr Martyr) proposing that definite matters of public importance be submitted to the House for discussion today. As required by standing order 107 I have selected one matter, that is that proposed by the honourable member for Fremantle, namely:

The need for a public commitment by the Government to eliminate from the Aboriginal community the diseases and disabilities of yaws, leprosy, hookworm, trachoma, pulmonary infections, deafness and malnutrition and the need to establish a Select Committee of this House to recommend and accelerate action to achieve these ends.

I call upon those members who approve of the proposed discussion to rise in their places.
