Mr Donald Cameron (GRIFFITH, QUEENSLAND) asked the Minister representing the Minister for the Media, upon notice:

(1)   Is the Government investigating the laws relating to advertising in Australia.

(2)   Is so, (a) what investigations have been made to date and (b) is the Minister prepared to state precisely the area of likely change.

Mr Morrison - The Minister for the Media has supplied the following answer to the honourable member's question:

(1)   My department has not initiated any such investigation. I would suggest the honourable member make inquiries of my colleagues the AttorneyGeneral and the Minister for Science to see if they have considered such matters. Advertising on radio and television is a matter for the Broadcasting Control Board, which from time to time reviews the standards itdraws up in this area.

(2)   See answer to Question (1).
