(2)   Files are raised by Headquarters Western Command to cover individual activities and to facilitate co-ordination of requests for the use of Kingston Barracks.

National Capital Development Commission: Survey of Flood Peak Levels in Tnggeranong District (Question No. 213)

Mr Hunt asked the Minister for Urban and Regional Development, upon notice:

(1)   Has the National Capital Development Commission carried out a survey of the flood peak levels in the Tuggeranong district and in particular in the section known as Wanniassa.

Mr Les Johnson (HUGHES, NEW SOUTH WALES) - The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(1)   As many factors in addition to the rate of construction, such as changes in interest rates, in the prices of building materials and in labour awards, affect the cost and price of new dwellings and the impact of these factors varies from quarter to quarter, the cost and price of new dwelling units could continue to rise at a time when fewer units were being built. Because of the complex issues involved, the Australian Government has so far made no attempt to quantify the desirable physical level of new dwelling construction.

(2)   No target was established for 1973.
