Mr Lloyd (MURRAY, VICTORIA) asked the Minister for Social Security, upon notice:

(1)   How many people in the Electoral Divisionof Murray were in receipt of a pension as at 1 May 1973.

(2)   What were the different categories of pension, and how many pensioners were there in each category.


Mr Hayden - The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(1)   Statistics of pensioners by Electoral Divisions are not maintained by my Department. A survey of pensioners by post code districts that was carried out in December 1972 showed that there were 6438 pensioners in post code districts 3SS9, 3561, 3563, 3566, 3571-3573, 3608-3614, 3616-3618 3620-3625, 3627, 3629-3631, 3633-3647, 3649, 3682, 3685, 3687, 3728 and 3730.

These districts roughly approximate the area of the Murray Electoral Division.

(2)   The distribution of the 6438 pensioners by the type of pension was as follows:
