Mr Lynch asked the Minister for Labour, upon notice:

(1)   What was the percentage change for the total economy in (a) implicit price deflator, (b) unit labour costs, (c) unit profits, (d) unit indirect tax less subsidies and (e) other unit costs during each calendar year from and including 1966.

(2)   What was the average percentage change in these categories in each year.


Mr Clyde Cameron (HINDMARSH, SOUTH AUSTRALIA) - I am informed that the answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(1)   On present published information it is not possible to provide estimates for all the groups on either a calendar or financial year basis. The advice of the Commonwealth Statistician is being sought on this matter.
