Mr N H Bowen (PARRAMATTA, NEW SOUTH WALES) en asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs, upon notice:

What international conventions, treaties and agreements have been signed, ratified or acceded to by Australia since 2nd December 1972, and upon what dates.


Mr Whitlam - The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

 

 

Diplomatic Service: Papua New Guniea Personnel (Question No. 261) Mr N. H. Bowen asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs, upon notice:

(1)   How many people of Papua New Guinea are presently stationed in Australian Embassies or High Commissions overseas.

(2)   Where are they stationed.

(3)   How many are presently training in Australia with the Department of Foreign Affairs or any other Department.


Mr WHITLAM (WERRIWA, NEW SOUTH WALES) - The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows: _

(1)   Seven trainees from Papua New Guinea are attached to Australian Embassies or High Commissions.

(2)   The trainees are stationed in: Bangkok. Brussels, Geneva, Jakarta, Nairobi, New York, Tokyo.

(3)   Five Foreign Service Trainees are attending the Foreign Service Training Course conducted by the Department of Foreign Affairs. 47 trainees from Papua New Guinea are undertaking training under the Commonwealth Practical Training Scheme with other Australian Government Departments. 13 trainees from Papua New Guinea who have recently completed a course in Management at the Australian School of Pacific Administration are attached to Federal and State Government Departments.
