Mr Kennedy asked the Minister for the Army, upon notice:

(1)   What are the names of all units and sections of units located at (a) Puckapunyal, (b) Bendigo and (c) Monegeetta.

(2)   How many (a) officers, (b) other ranks and (c) all ranks in each section (i) resigned, (ii) reengaged, (Hi) did not re-engage and (iv) were discharged on compassionate grounds or for other reasons in each of the years 1969, 1970 and 1971 to date.


Mr Peacock - The answer to the honour able member's question is as follows:

(2)   It is assumed that this part pf the question seeks statistics in relation to the three areas mentioned in part (1). If this is so then I must - advise that these figures are not available and it would not be possible to produce figures wilh any degree of accuracy.

Many soldiers, prior to discharge are posted to command Unallotted Lists and are not shown as having been discharged from a particular unit. In addition, a soldier may have re-engaged while serving in a different location and have been subsequently posted to a unit listed in part (1) of the question.

However, if the honourable member requires the statistics, in the categories named, for the Army as a whole, then I will be pleased to provide them.
