Mr Hansen (WIDE BAY, QUEENSLAND) asked the Minister representing the Minister for Civil Aviation, upon notice:

(1)   On what routes do Fokker Friendship aircraft carry both first and tourist class passengers.

(2)   What is the name of the operating company in each instance.

(3)   What is the maximum passenger loading of first class passengers used by each company for each type of Fokker Friendship aircraft.

(4)   What fares are charged for first and tourist class in each instance where a Fokker Friendship service operates.

Mr Swartz - The Minister for Civil Aviation has provided the following answer to the honourable member's question: (l), (2) and (4) The following table shows the services jointly provided and fares charged by both Trans-Australia Airlines and Ansett Airlines of Australia:


Trans-Australia Airlines provides the following additional services:


The following additional service is provided by Ansett Airlines of Australia:


(3)   The maximum seating capacity on TransAustralia Airlines and Ansett Airlines of Australia Fokker Friendship aircraft is 36 and 40 respectively.

Education: Assistance to Northern Territory (Question No. 146)

Mr Whitlam asked the Minister for the

Interior, upon notice:

(1)   How many (a) Aboriginal and (b) other Australian children of school age live in the Northern Territory.

(2)   How many (a) Aboriginal and (b) other Australian children in the Northern Territory attend (i) Administrative and (ii) mission (A) primary, (B) secondary and (C) technical schools.

(3)   How many (a) Aboriginal and (b) other Australian children from the Northern Territory are assisted to receive (i) primary, (ii) secondary, (iii) university and (iv) other education elsewhere in Australia, and what is the nature and cost of such assistance in each category.

Mr Nixon - The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows: (The Minister for Education and Science has provided information in respect of community and private schools in the Northern Territory. Persons of part-Aboriginal descent only are not included in the figures for Aborigines except where these people normally live in Aboriginal communities. The information provided relates to the 1970 school and academic year.)

(1)   Number of children of school age (at least 5 years and under 16 years) living in the Northern Territory:

(3)   Assistance given to students for studies outside the Northern Territory:

The above statements of cost for university and other' relate to special provisions for the Northern Territory, and do not include the Commonwealth wide provision of University and Advanced Education Scholarships.
