Mr Whitlam asked the Minister for the Interior, upon notice:

(1)   On what criteria does his Department assess applications for transfers from one form of government housing in the Australian Capital Territory to another.

(2)   In each of the last 10 years, how many applications for such transfers have been (a) received and (b) granted.


Mr Nixon - The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

(1)   Transfer criteria:

(a)   Overcrowding (including married persons in bed-sitting room flats).

(b)   Medical necessity.

(c)   Hardship (transfer to lower rental accommodation).

(d)   Tenant from dwellings located! in redevelopment areas.

(e)   Transfer to a smaller dwelling.

(f)   Mutual exchange between tenants.

(2)   Transfers from one form of government housing in the Australian Capital Territory to another.
