Mr Charles Jones asked the Minister for Shipping and Transport, upon notice:

(1)   How many dredges were built in Australian shipyards during the last 10 years.

(2)   At which shipyard was each built.

(3)   What was the date of completion of each dredge.

(4)   Who is the present owner.

(5)   What is the size and type of each dredge.

(6)   What was the cost of each vessel.

(7)   Which of the dredges are still working in Australia.

(8)   How many dredges were imported into Australia in the past 10 years.

(9)   Who is the present owner of each of these vessels.

(10)   What is the size of each dredge.

(11)   What were the conditions of entry of each dredge.

(12)   What was the date of entry and the dutypaid on each of these vessels.

(13)   Which of these dredges are still working in Australia.


Mr Sinclair - The answer to the honour able member's question is as follows:

(1)   It is my understanding that 34 dredges have been built in Australia during the last 10 years.
