Mr HAYDEN (OXLEY, QUEENSLAND) - I ask a question of the Prime Minister in the absence of the Minister for External Affairs. Has his attention been drawn to evidence of base, cruel and in some cases depraved ill treatment as well as the denial of basic rights to political prisoners in Greece, which was disclosed late last year in the 1,200 page report of the Human Rights Commission of the Council of Europe? As Ministers of his Government, especially the Minister for External Affairs, have been enunciating passionate concern for the welfare and rights of people in other countries, will he extend this with some consistency by now publicly condemning and denouncing the treatment of these political prisoners in Greece?
