Mr CREAN (MELBOURNE PORTS, VICTORIA) - 1 desire to address a question to the Minister for Immigration. On what grounds has Dr Ernest Mandel, a well known Belgian scholar, been refused entry to Australia? Dr Mandel is a reputable historian and an expositor, in the modern sense, of Marxian economics. He is able to travel freely throughout Europe, and I think this sort of ban makes Australia look ridiculous in the eyes of international groups.
