Mr Daly asked the Minister for the Army, upon notice -

1.   How many servicemen who have been killed in action or who have died in Vietnam have been buried in Australia?

2.   In how many of these cases has the cost of burying the servicemen in Australia been met by (a) the Government and (b) relatives or private persons?

Mr Malcolm Fraser (WANNON, VICTORIA) - The answers to the honorable member's questions are as follows -

1.   20 as at 4th March 1966. This figure includes those who are currently being returned to Australia for burial. 2. (a) and (b). As recently announced, the Government has decided to provide the same assistance as is given in the case of servicemen dying in Australia and who are buried privately. This will apply to those already returned or to be returned in future.
