Mr TOWNLEY (DENISON, TASMANIA) (Minister for Defence) - First of all, I should like to say that Vice-Admiral Dowling is a man who has given gallant and distinguished service to the armed forces of this country during almost the whole of his lifetime. However, he has no political authority whatever.


Mr Whitlam - Nor nous!


Mr TOWNLEY - I do not know whether the honorable member would be a judge of that.
