Mr McCOLM (BOWMAN, QUEENSLAND) - ^1 ask the Minister In charge of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization whether it is a fact that shipments of desiccated coco-nut from Ceylon recently have been found to be infected with salmonella. Is it a fact that most insurance companies will no longer insure consignments from Ceylon against the risk of bacterial infection? Can the Minister inform the House what steps are being taken by his department to prevent the likelihood of the Australian public suffering from infection as a result of any such importations? Will the Minister endeavour to make any necessary arrangements that will enable the importation of desiccated coco-nut from Ceylon to be effected under the cover of a certificate of freedom from infection issued by the Government of Ceylon?
