Mr CALWELL (MELBOURNE, VICTORIA) - In reply to a question which was asked of him last week by the honorable member for Melbourne Ports the Prime Minister expressed his concern at the future of the aircraft industry, and the apprehension felt by employees in the Commonwealth aircraft factory at Port Melbourne about their future employment. The Prime Minister said that he intended to make a statement this week about the Government's plans for aircraft construction "m Australia.

Mr Menzies - 1 said that I hoped to make a statement this week.

Mr CALWELL - 1 thought you said that you would.

Mr Menzies - No, I did not say that.

Mr CALWELL - Relying on the Prime Minister's hope that he would be able to make a statement this week, 1 ask him whether his hopes will be realized and whether he will make the statement either to-day or to-morrow?
