Mr HAROLD HOLT - I did see a report in the press to the general effect mentioned by the honorable gentleman. Of course, one of the factors in the mind of the Government when it came to its decisions was the special problem of the primary producer in a period when rising costs have threatened our export markets. But the Government is not concerned solely with the interests, however important they may be, o; any one section of the Australian community. It believes the action it has taken to be in the interests of the Australian people as a whole, and I can assure the honorable gentleman that, although many criticisms have reached me, I have been encouraged by the many expressions, not only from the farming community, of support and commendation of the measures which the Government has seen fit to adopt in the interests of the country as a whole.
