Mr CAIRNS (YARRA, VICTORIA) - 1 ask the Minister for Defence whether it is a fact that the manufacture of Avon-Sabre jet aircraft in Australia was restricted by the North American company concerned to manufacture for Australian use. Is it likely that a similar restriction will apply to aircraft manufactured in the future in these circumstances? Does the Minister consider this desirable, in view of the fact that, if no restrictions were imposed, similar aircraft could be manufactured for such countries as India and New Zealand, thereby considerably reducing the cost of production of the aircraft in Australia?
