Mr MENZIES - I have not seen the statement to which the honorable member refers, but over a period of ten years I have heard statements in almost exactly the same words from so many other State Ministers that I am not unaccustomed to them. As the honorable member knows, in this matter we have always paid year by year the greatest consideration to the needs of the States and in point of fact the States are being progressively better furnished with funds. On the last occasion on which there was a meeting of the Loan Council, the States went away, so I am informed by my colleagues, very satisfied indeed with the arrangements that had been made for them and the funds that they were to receive from the Commonwealth. That is the position, and 100 speeches really will not make any difference.
