Mr FAIRHALL - It is quite true thai the Cowra Immigrant Centre has recently been passed to the Department of the Interior for disposal. The prime responsibility of the department, of course, Wil be to preserve the Commonwealth interest in the property. If that can be done without destroying the local interest, if I may call it that, we would be most happy to oblige. I know that the previous owner and the municipal authorities are both interested in the disposal, and I suggest that perhaps the honorable gentleman might call them into conference. If they can present a plan that would preserve both the local and the Commonwealth interests, we will be happy to consider it.
