Mr Cleaver r asked the Minister for Health, upon notice -

1.   Has any progress been made by the National Fitness Council in its liaison with the Office of Education with a view to setting up an advisory youth committee to provide a basis for affiliation with the World Assembly of Youth?

2.   When will the annual report of the National Fitness Council for the year 1955 be tabled?

3.   Will he explore the possibility of transferring the administration of the National Fitness Act 1941 to the Office of Education, as recommended recently by me?

4.   Pending consideration of the transfer of the National Fitness Division to the Prime Minister's Department, will he discuss with the Government the substantial increase in the vote for the National Fitness Council which was also recommended?

Dr DONALD CAMERON (OXLEY, QUEENSLAND) - The answers to the honorable member's questions are as follows: -

1.   As a result of discussions with the Office of Education, steps are being taken through the Office of Education to set up a Youth Advisory Panel which will function in an advisory capacity to the Australian Unesco Committee for Education on all matters concerning overseas youth affilia tions Certain selected Australian youth organizations having national and international affiliations are being invited as members of the proposed Youth Advisory Panel.

2.   The annual report of activities of the Commonwealth National Fitness Council for the year 1955 is at present being printed, and will be tabled as soon as it is available. 3 and 4. It is not customary to make a statement on policy in reply to a question.
