Mr Barnard d asked the Minister for De fence Production, upon notice -

1.   What is the anticipated date of completion of the St. Mary's filling factory?

2.   What has been the cost to date of the construction of the factory?

3.   What is the estimated final cost?

4.   What was the original estimated cost?

5.   What was the original estimated date of completion?


Mr Beale - The answers to the honorable member's questions are as follows: -

1.   December, 1957.

2.   £10,716,000 as at 1 7th October, 1956.

3.   On 23rd July. 1956, the architects, Messrs. Stephenson and Turner, advised that the final cost would be approximately £23,000,000.

4.   £23,200,000.

5.   December, 1957.
