Mr MENZIES - Recently the honorable member for Blaxland asked me a question concerning the salaries of the staff of the House of Representatives. I undertook to find out the present position, and I think that the answer should be on record. Certain technical matters were under discussion between the Presiding Officers and the Treasury concerning the reclassification of certain positions on the House staff. In addition to the Treasurer, I have now had an opportunity to join in these discussions - for reasons that are clear enough. I am happy to inform the honorable member that the proposed reclassification of the positions has been approved and has appeared in the " Gazette ".
