Mr WILSON (STURT, SOUTH AUSTRALIA) - Is the Treasurer aware that earlier this year it was reported that because of the high price of bronze an Australian penny could be sold for scrap metal for more than a penny? If this report was correct, would not our coinage be endangered if the price of bronze again rose? Will the Treasurer consider arranging for a new coin to be minted, smaller in size than our present penny, and having a value of one-tenth of a shilling, for the dual purpose of protecting the coinage and getting one step closer to the establishment of a decimal system of coinage?
