Mr J R FRASER - I direct to the Minister for Social Services a question on an aspect of a matter that has been mentioned by other honorable members this afternoon. In view of the announcement that the War Service Homes Division cannot finance the purchase of any more previously occupied dwellings this financial year because funds for this purpose have been exhausted, will the Minister make exceptions in the cases of ex-servicemen who, with no prior knowledge of this recent decision, have already paid substantial deposits on old houses and are in danger of losing them because they cannot now borrow the balance of the 'purchase money?

Mr TOWNLEY - I make it clear that the position of any ex-serviceman who has entered into commitments with the War Service Homes Division will not be altered at all. In every instance, the applicant's requirements will be met. The Government has no intention of slackening in that respect.
