Mr McEWEN (INDI, VICTORIA) - I address a question to the Minister for External Affairs relating to a matter which I have raised in the Parliament and in correspondence with the Minister over a period of years. Lt concerns the murder in Indonesia of three Australian officers, two of whom left dependants in this country. Previously, the Minister undertook to take whatever steps were possible to secure compensation from the Government of the Indonesian Republic for the widowed mother, in one instance, and the widow and an orphaned child in another instance. As those men were murdered nearly three years ago, I should like to know how long it is since those representions were made to the Indonesian Government to provide further compensation, in addition to the payment of £500 in each of the two instances I have mentioned.
