Mr CALWELL (MELBOURNE, VICTORIA) (Minister for Immigration) -The Dutch exservicemen referred to by the honorable member are allied ex-servicemen who are corning here with the assistance of the subsidy granted by the Australian Government to certain defined groups of allied ex-servicemen, and to men who served in the resistance movements in allied countries. When they arrive here, they will go to the homes of relatives or friends. They will be free to follow whatever occupations or callings they desire, subject only to the requirements of State law governing the registration of professional persons such as doctors, dentists, engineers and the like. There willbe no direction of labour so far as they are concerned, but they will not be allowed to live outside the localities indicated by their nominators in Australia.
